This resort certainly is past its prime and especially some of the outside areas are in desperate need of work. Having said that, my room was quite acceptable, nothing flash, but clean and the bathroom appeared to have been recently renovated. It looks like renovations have started in this hotel. The rooms are poorly sound insulated, one certainly knows when your neighbour ours having a shower or uses the bathroom. I found staff to be friendly and helpful. Breakfast was quite ok, dinner (pizza, salat) was fine, both 6/10 for that kind of hotel. Maybe it is just me, but the signage to help you find the rooms could be better.

Not worth the money, room was cold, no independent heat control switch, bed appeared unchanged from last guest, hair on bed sheets, hotel difficult to find due to poor neon lighting. Old outdated furniture, TV from the 80's I'm sure. Poor lighting on pathways to room. Staff seemed reluctant to care about complaints. To top it all off we never had our room made up or towels changed despite leaving "room change" notice on door. A backpackers place would have been just as exciting, certainly a lot cheaper. Will not recommend or stay there again.
Rydges Eagle Hawk Resort is located north of Canberra close to border with NSW. When I stayed there I signed up for Priority Guest Rewards but they could not credit my stay there to the program. I the room I have found ants crawling on the walls and the spider was crawling in the bathroom. I went to reception buy they told me they could not offer my other room because the hotel was full. Later when I complained via email there was no answer.
What a great place to stay! Usually would only stay at a resort like this the once - but after spending the Easter long weekend here - would consider returning. My wife picked the place at the last minute - I was Itinerarising our adventures around the nations capital - so really only got to read the reviews in the car on the way down. Most of the reviews were negative and picked up on trivial matters - such as cob webs in door corners! Naturally I was concerned - but needn't have been. The two rooms were spacious - and ever so cosy thanks to two wonderful ducted air conditioners. The King in one room - 3 singles in the other suited our "modern" sleeping arrangements (our son has dibs on the spot next to my wife) The pool was a hit - in spite of the freezing cold water - my 7 year old and her zest for all things "life" made short work of that!
