Our first visit to Surf Rider in Poquoson, and it was excellent. The tuna bites are a great appetizer. 2 at our table enjoyed the crab cake. I don't eat seafood, but enjoyed the 12-oz hamburger steak with onions. Plenty of vegetable sides are available, along with the huge broccoli. Craft beers are available in cans or bottles at the reasonable price of 4.50. The rum runner was a delicious \dessert.\. My 92-year-old mother-in-law does not have a big appetite, but polished off her meal and loved it.

've been coming here as long as I can remember. Best crabcakes around. Cute spot in the marina with a nice view at sunset by the boats. They've added outdoor seating recently which is nice on a cooler evening. The broccoli is weirdly amazing. I don't know what they do that makes it so good, but I definitely recommend ordering it. I'll be back again soon.
The food was really good. The proportions were wired. I got an hamburger with a salad. It was kinda small, both the hamburger and the salad. My kid got the popcorn shrimp, it had to have been the largest kid meal I have ever seen. The plate was the same size plate as my hamburger came on but, covered with shrimp and tater tots and two hush puppies. My wife got the salmon special, we got there at four PM so unfortunately the prices change from 12 to 22 before we finished. It was really good and big. Two steaks two hush puppies and two sides. It was a lot of food. Stephanie was really nice. There is great view out the window. I would really recommend eating here.
This was our 1st time at this particular Surfrider since it just reopened this fall in a new building. While reservations were not allowed we were able to get seating immediately for 4 at 5:00 p.m. on a Saturday. Social distancing was respected and waiting staff had masks on appropriately utilizing them. I have found that the seafood prices are comparable to other seafood restaurants in the area and the quality of the meals was excellent. I think the batter that they used for frying is delicious.
Went the second evening for the reopening and began with the amazing Crab Dip, Fried Flounder, Shrimp, Oysters, Scallops, Baked Potatoes, Potato Salad, and all was delicious. Don’t expect the signature “She Crab Soup” as I was given a sample and the consistency has changed and is not the thick of the past...Hopefully they’ll correct that!! Open atmosphere with surrounded window seating. I’ll definitely continue to return and recommend!!
