Wanted a bike to ride around the island. This shop is the only one on the island that has rentals. They should be glad that they have no competition. The bikes are poorly maintained and filthy. They do not wash or use anything to clean the bikes between rentals. When I asked about something to clean the bikes, I was rudely informed that they were out. The girl at counter is in need of some serious customer service training. She was rude, ill mannered and unconcerned with the apparent lack of decent rental bikes. I will be contacting a rental service off the island and they deliver to your address.

Julies rentals made our beach vacation so relaxing and memorable! We arrived at our home and everything was already delivered. All of the equipment was clean and easy to use. It was delightful to walk down to the beach and find our beach tents already up and assembled. The staff made it very clear that they wanted to make our stay as relaxing as possible! I literally couldnt imagine this trip without them! Our experience was nothing like the other reviews below, I believe it is under new management and for the better :)
My family and I have been using Julie’s rentals for years, primarily renting bikes. However, this year I decided it would be nice to have a beach canopy all set up so it would be one less thing to carry to the beach. The first few days of the week were perfect! However, come Wednesday Julie’s showed their true colors. The weather was pretty windy in the morning and I noticed there weren’t any canopy’s up. Didn’t think much of it, just figured they’d wait till the wind calmed down. We went back to the beach around noon and the wind had pretty much calmed down but still no canopy. I proceeded to call and they informed me that it wasn’t “worth the effort” because they’d have to take them down at 5pm. To make matters worse, there is zero warning about weather and renting of canopies. The next day (Thursday) I wake up to a text saying “due to weather we will not be able to put up the canopies today”. To be fair it was rather windy outside. So I answered to the text if there would be compensation for the missed days. Their response was a compensation only if there are 3 interruptions due to weather. The value of which they determined as 10%, which barely even covers the cost of the tax for the canopy. Come Friday, it was a rainy day so I woke up figuring on the small compensation. However, in order for them to save the 30 they decided to put up the canopy in the rain. I will never rent of Julie’s again and suggest everyone to shop around before renting with them!
If I could give a zero I would the service at the shop was horrible the boy has no communication skills and took forever making my coffee. He spent more time worrying about his cell phone had no clue what he was doing. Not to mention the fact that he has a full beard behind the counter, regardless if he was wearing a mask or still is not sanitary. Do not go to this shop. My friends that are local said to try it but after the customer service I’ll never go back or recommend it to anyone. I don’t know where they find there workers. Plenty of better coffee and ice cream places a short drove to calabash.
Hands down the best rental company I have worked with on vacation! I rented a few different items for our week at the beach - and the staff at Julies went above and beyond to help us out. I will definitely be using this company every summer on my trip to Sunset! Highly recommend.
