We chose the family business of Stockman and Loram funeral services for my husband’s farewell, for two reasons. The first remembering how caring and efficient, twenty years ago Dougie Loram (grandfather to Seb and Dom) dealt with the funerals of both my parents; the second - they are a well established local family business rather than a big chain trading under local names. We felt this would allow us to make the ceremony 'ours' rather than a 'one size fits all' option. As we’d expected, from the moment contact was made, and on meeting Seb Loram for the first time, it was obvious we’d made the right decision, we found him to be efficient, empathetic, and absolutely ‘got us’ as a family. The fact that we seemed in a wilderness made worse by Covid restraints only seemed to gently strengthen the quality of his guidance. We ended up having a funeral that was quite different - and totally unconventional for our family, but it was the most beautiful ceremony overlooking the River Dart. Seb demonstrated quiet reassurance that whatever we wanted he would find way to deliver and despite constant small changes and requests from us he did just that. We came to view him not only as our funeral director but a friend. We can’t thank the Loram family enough for getting us through the darkest days in the lives of our family. If you are looking for a professional, caring company to gently guide you through the difficult process of saying goodbye to a loved one, then I cannot recommend Stockman & Loram enough. From the initial phone call to the funeral itself, we felt that the time was taken to fully understand exactly what it was we wanted and how we wanted to say goodbye. The fact that we had the same person dealing with us from start to finish (in our case the excellent Seb) made communication simple and straightforward. Nothing was too much trouble and Seb provide much needed advice and guidance when it all became too much. The funeral itself was made easier by the professional and calm organisation of Seb and his team - they just 'took care of it' whilst adhering completely to our wishes. I honestly don't think we would have been able to have the unique and personal farewell to our beloved dad without their assistance. They made the worst time in our lives that little bit more bearable and for this we are so grateful.
With our hearts broken, we needed the most gentle guidance organising the farewell of our precious Father. Seb Loram and his team, made the worst time in our lives, bearable, seamless, and we cannot thank him enough. The dignity, respect and genuine connection shown to our family throughout this difficult time was exceptional. Our Father was a very special human being, deserving an individual, personally relevant send off. Seb made that happen for us and more importantly for our beloved Dad. The consistency of care was extremely touching. Genuinely local is an important element. History. As individuals we have asked Seb to enjoy a long and happy life, so he will be fit and able to look after us, when our time comes.
I can't speak too highly of this firm. I went to them for my late husband's funeral. They were sensitive and caring, and went beyond the call of duty in providing exactly what we wanted. Don't even think of going to anyone else in the Brixham/Paignton area. Pat King
