Always a pleasure to shop at Stephen Smith's. The main part of the shop has just had new flooring so it is a bit bleak but all the new spring and summer stock is on its way. Staff pleasant and helpful. Looking forward to the coffee shop opening again and one of their wonderful breakfasts to set me up before a day in the garden!

Lovely place, lots to see and look at, friendly staff, lovely cafe. They took all the safety precautions for covid which was good. Very good for wheelchair accessible places. Also I saw they had chairs to borrow inside. Lovely little gem!
Where to start. The disabled toilet was really dirty, as for the changing table for babies, you could plant flowers in the dirt. The back of the toilet was very dusty, the sink was dirty. Staff had attitude problems. I am disabled with rods in my spine. Usually I would use my wheelchair but I was with my elderly mother who also is disabled. I cannot walk unaided and I walk bent over double, clearly it can be seen I have mobility problems. Both my mother and I were using disability walkers. I was desperate for the toilet and was made by a couple of members of staff that I had to walk all the way outside and back in again. One member of staff very grudgingly moved a barrier to save me walking round but told me I had to walk all the way through the store and one way system to get out which was a very long way round, causing me severe pain. By the time I got to the car I was in tears my mum was disgusted. My mother then told me that the lady wouldn't let her through and told her she had to walk round rather than move one railing. My mother then said she was following the man in front of her and was abruptly told that the man was staff!!! So the rules don't apply to staff. There were members of staff who were disrespectful, clearly needing customer service training. There was also a very elderly man pushing a very elderly lady in a wheelchair. The gentleman pushing clearly had mobility issues and he was made to go the long way round as well. These are trying times. We don't need to be treated disrespectfully. If Smiths would like me to, I would happily retrain their staff.
Pleasant wander round this morning. Plants are all in good shape, and well cared. Great selection and variety of fruit bushes/trees. Reasonable prices. Very good winter stock out too at the moment. Restaurant and shop also nice. Will be back.
All items are a little bit pricey when comparing the same item like for like at all major supermarkets. Clean & tidy, sparse on items for sale.
