I decided to try yoga early this year and Steamtown Yoga and their instructors have been extremely patient with me and extremely helpful. I'm certainly not a typical yoga person but I now really enjoy it and it's really helped me lose a lot of weight and reduce a lot of my stress and aches and pains. I would highly recommend this place to any beginners/novices out there thinking about giving a yoga a try. The instructors here really put me at ease and made me feel comfortable. I never felt intimidated or out of place. I can't say enough about this place. I'm thankful I went here and not some snooty place that probably would have caused me to hate yoga...and yoga people lol. Highly recommended!

Steamtown Yoga is a wonderful place to enjoy the healing benefits of hot yoga, while joining a lovely, supportive, fun community. This yoga is great for everyone, regardless of age, fitness level, or flexibility. While geared for beginners, there are plenty of experienced, inspirational yogis practicing at Steamtown. Owner Lara Alexiou is extremely professional, warm, and fun to take class with. Steamtown's amenities include showers, filtered water, mat and towel rental, and easy parking. This is one of the best studios in NEPA.

I've been to hot yoga studios in San Francisco, and other big cities all over the country, and Steamtown Hot Yoga is one of the best I have ever been to. Some studios, even registered Bikram studios underestimate the importance of explaining exactly why you are doing each posture, and how it benefits your body. I believe that understanding why you are doing 26 postures in a 105 degree room for 90 minutes is something that needs to be explained, otherwise the wisdom may be lost to those who are uninformed. The entire staff definitely makes this understanding a mission and are extremely kind, caring, and helpful on the path to doing so. You really are encouraged to take the practice at your own pace, never being scolded for not over doing it (which I've witnessed at many strict Bikram studios!) I brought my father in, never having taken a yoga class in his life and more of a weight lifter, and even he felt so welcomed he wants to go back. The studio and changing rooms are impeccable. Never running out of positives at SHY! Namaste!
