No heating in the building, the employees take break lunch from 1-2 PM so beware.. One ride takes about 15 min. The price is 30 lei for 1 person for 1 ride. When going up, we waited for almost 3h in the queue. One time it's worth but just one time and that's because we liked what we've seen when reached the top. During winter you don't have with what to climb to top as Transfagarasa road it's closed so the gondola is the only option. Definitely won't repeat the experience in winter :( When we got down with the gondola we've waited less in a queue: 1,5h. Last hour of operation to get down with the gondola is 5 PM (for tourists). At least, when we got down (in full darkness), the room were we waited was heated. Make sure during winter you are well equipped. Up it's very cold. Last week the temperature was -15C.

We waited 3 hours in line, cost 7 per way, 5min per way with 14 people in the cable car. Big parking lot, souvenir shops. The view from the mountain is breathtaking if you have the patience to wait in line.
In the winter months it is really crowded, there is a 2 hour minimum of waiting in the line. This aerial tramway has a capacity of up to 14 people. It takes about 12 minutes to get from the base to the top witch is about 3,66 km away. The views on the other hand are spectacular. It was built in the 1970's there are only two cars on the system.
Great experience to get to Balea lake, specially in winter time. Although the cable car is old it is functional, working slow because of the weather so you need to have patience. It takes 15 minutes/ride, 35 ron/adult/ride and 15 ron/child/ride. Apreciate the men working there in the freeing cold, they might tell you a story or two if you ask them
I visited Bâlea Lake with my wife and my child. The ticket costs 15 lei for kids and 30 for adults. We waited about 15 minutes for the next ride, because the cabin starts with minimum 10 passengers. We could go up with our car but choose the show the views to my son. He definitely enjoyed it. It worth the money. Now the bad part. When coming back the cabin broke. The last passengers go down with the backup motor in 30 minutes. And then the rest like us waited another half an our until the staff rallied some cars to bring us to the valley. They did it for free, so this is why I give 4 stars. But checking Google news the cabin broke down every 5 months once. Never fallen in the valley but waiting in the air could be scary. This problem should be fixed, but nevertheless I do recommend the cabin.
I would rather give it a 3.5. The cable car is really old and small so you might have to stay in the queue in order to get into the cabin for a certain amount of time (30-45 min). However, it is the only way to get to the lake during the winter and the view is absolutely great. I appreciated the service, even though it is old and slow. It is better than having to go by foot or on skis.
The views are great but the cabins are a bit outdated
Aweful experience. If you are trying to go up during the weekend, you may have to wait in line 3h. Better try during the week or book a room at balea, to have priority bording.
