Station One Smokehouse Reviews | Rating 4,5 out of 5 stars

Station One Smokehouse is located in Plainfield, United States on 15025 S Des Plaines St #1a. Station One Smokehouse is rated 4.5 out of 5 in the category barbecue in United States. My passion for BBQ began during my time running my family’s butcher shop, City Meat Market in Naperville. We had a smoker there and I was able to experiment with it quite a bit, smoking jerky, snack sticks, bacons, hams, pastrami, sausages, cheeses, whole birds—the list goes on. It was during these “formative” years that I discovered Central Texas BBQ. I was instantly hooked. The style is rooted in old world butcher shops smoking leftover cuts of meats so that it could be salvaged. Curious to learn more, I took a two-week tour through Central Texas to explore this world of barbecue and I fell in love. My family sold the butcher shop, and I moved on to Green Street Smoked Meats, perhaps the most renowned BBQ restaurant in Chicago. I served as executive chef and manager at Green Street for three years, where I was afforded the opportunity to cook for many celebrities and athletes. Hosting Theo Epstein’s championship party for the 2016 Cubs was a big highlight for me.

It felt good to sit down in a restaurant and have dinner as it's been a long time. Station One was a very safe environment where staff took all necessary precautions and our pandemic world. The food portions were plentiful and that correspond to the prices charged. The food was excellent, the meat tender, and the sides were plentiful and tasty. Station One is definitely a place we will go back to.

As any Texan might tell you, we're a bit particular when it comes to our BBQ. I wasn't sure what to expect of my first experience with it in Illinois, but I am thrilled to say that Station One has really set the bar high for not only BBQ in Illinois, but also for those of us down in the Houston area. The meats were cooked perfectly, a nice variety of sauces for those interested, and sides that aren't an after thought. If you find yourself strolling around Plainfield or looking for something to do, definitely stop in and grab a plate. They have outdoor seating and safety precautions are in place.

On a long drive trying to find a place to eat that's safe for me. As a celiac, I can't have any fast food or most other late night options, so we drove 20 minutes out of the way to get food before there were no options. We checked online AND called ahead to confirm that the restaurant would still be open when we got there for a takeout order. We arrived 30 minutes before closing time and, even though there were people drinking at the bar and staff inside, the doors were locked and everything was closed from the outside. If we hadn't wasted time going here, I could have found another option, but by the time we arrived, everywhere else I could have eaten was closed or too far away to get to before closing.

Nice place for a meat lover! General feedback From my friends are that they all love the place I also enjoyed it myself. They had a spectacular, What they call beef rib tip, but it's not like the rib tips I know this was like a whole beef rib bone with the most juiciest and delectable meat hanging off of it There almost fell off your fork it was so soft! The corn bread is a nice moist northern corn bread which they take a ice cream scoop and put a dollop of their special butter on top of it yes it's a big piece of cornbread..mmmuuummm!!!

Wow! Fantastic BBQ in Plainfield IL. At lot of care and passion goes into the preparation of these wonder meats and dishes. Highly recommend the pork belly and some of the full-cut brisket tip. The Texas Toothpicks were also amazing and the moist cornbread with whipped honey butter was devine! This is a must-visit staple and needs to stay around for a long time!
