I am sorry that this is such a negative review which I really should have posted a few years ago but I have to be honest. Having visited St Mawes for a number of recent years we began by purchasing pasties and cakes from the bakery. However, I was always very uncomfortable by the fact that they would handle the unwrapped products by hand and then take money and move on to the next customer. Surely as a business you must be aware of all the germs that are carried and can be transferred on money. I have to confess I cannot recall whether they wore gloves or not but either way there was no change from handling the products to taking the money i.e. either they had gloves on for both or used bare hands for both. This swayed us from buying products from there over the past few years. This year I wanted to have a look to see whether they had changed any of their processes for the better because of Covid. I walked past the shop to see (I think) the owner standing in the doorway, about to serve a customer who was outside. She was not wearing a mask and actually coughed into her hand as I happened to walk by. I was quite appalled. Health and hygiene is massively important when serving food generally never mind in the current climate. Very small changes would make this a better place to buy products from.

Best pastie of our trip, and I tried a few! A proper pastie with lots of steak and swede. Always a favourite in St Mawes! They have a few outside tables perfectly positioned for you to enjoy the comings and goings of the harbour.

Pasties were unfortunately not as nice as last year. A couple of bits of meat and mushy vegetables. Actual pastry was very nice. Had the scone this evening and it wasn't cooked in the middle and it just crumbled. Was looking forward to it

Stopped for pasties for the four of us after a cold windy dog walk. The lady working was welcoming and helpful and the pasties were spot on, hot , tasty and proper traditional style. They were freshly preparing made to order sandwiches for other customers while we were there. Being honest, the place doesn't look.a lot from outside but I would 100% recommend it. Lovely!
