Lovely welcome for a visitor. Friendly people, good facilities.
Went to my sister-in-law Mary (Mead's) funeral today(22nd July) at the above beautiful church. I must confess I am not a churchgoer now, but after hearing the requiem today which was conducted by Rev Jonny Dade I would definitely attend every week. I only wish I lived nearer. Rev Jonny Dade spoke eloquently.......from the heart, bringing back memories I could relate to of my beautiful sister-in-law Mary. His recollection of past instances involving Mary had me & others laughing, as that was just how lovely, kind and hilarious she was. In my eyes everyone should have a Rev Jonny Dade in their church. To say his celebration of life service blew me away would be an UNDERSTATEMENT. I totally understood everything he spoke about. He made a sad occasion into just that a celebration, and I thank him from the bottom of my heart. D Randall. Just to add to Dale's comment. I am Dale's husband and I used to attend regularly unti I joined the army in 1962. I was an alter boy (acolite) when Father McCurry was priest in charge. I used to get up at 5 oclock every morning and do a paper round. Then get on my bike to get to church for the 7.30 mass in the lady chapel. I used to get annoyed sometimes, as Father McCurry used to carry on with the service when there was only me and him there! I remember forgetting the responses one morning, as I was on my knees I fell asleep. I woke up as Father McCurry was bashing me on the head with that big bible. I have great memories of this church as I was christened, confirmed and attended Sunday School. The present incumbent Rev Jonny Dade is a wonderful celebrant and long may he continue. I couldnt get over how high tech it all is with the service on huge television screens. No more scrabbling around in hymn books and orders of service. Well done SS Mary and George
This is an Anglo Catholic church in the Sands and Castlefield area of High Wycombe. It has both a traditional service at 9:30 on Sundays and after that a more modern, contemporary one which happens at 11:15 on Sundays. The vicar is Jonny Dade who leads both services. It is a friendly, welcoming church which is reaching out to the local community.
We're a growing community church serving the Sands & Castlefield areas of High Wycombe. In 2019 SMG Church, welcomed a church-planting team from St Andrews, Hatters Lane, to plant a new congregation and revitalise the ministry of the church. We have 2 Sunday services in different styles and a worshipping community spanning the generations. We are lively, welcoming and passionate about connecting with our local community. Why not come and visit us?
