We managed to get a table booked last week for our anniversary, rang up the day before and was lucky enough to get a table. The staff are very professional and friendly! The food and the red wine are exquisite (the lamb was delicious) Nothing to fault whatsoever. Very clean also.

We booked a table here last minute soon after restaurants open again after the second lockdown. We were lucky to get a table when we did as it soon filled up. Food was tasty and the service was great, waiters were not intrusive but always attentive. Highly recommend!

We had a delicious dinner at St James, friendly, quick service and pleasant atmosphere. The fish we had was perfectly cooked and extremely tasty. I can highly recommend the Toblerone cheesecake for dessert!

Had a lovely Afternoon Tea with my husband this week. Very reasonably priced, the menu for two comprised a plate of finger sandwiches, four small scones with clotted cream and jam, and an assortment of bite-sized cakes. All attentively served by the team with tea being replenished as we wanted. Was just enough of a treat to not make us feel that we’d eaten to excess. This is a lovely restaurant and we would definitely have afternoon tea there again. We just question why Afternoon Tea is called “Betsy’s Tea Room”. The name evokes thoughts of sitting in a quaint 1900’s themed room, served by ladies in Victorian costume. Tea is served in the main restaurant so why not just call it “Afternoon Tea at St James’s?

Good food with good wine list. Owner came over to introduce himself too, so nice touch. Setting was good and attentive service. Portions are appropriate size making an easy decision for three courses. House champagne was good and not too costly. It does get busy.
