While this FBO is still undergoing a head-to-toe makeover, coupling a complete modernization of it's hangars and construction of it's new we-mean-business crew rooms and modern meeting areas, Stellar has earned its stars. Add in a well-trained, friendly and conscientious ground & reception crew and you definitely have a winner. I've flown professionally for about 35 years and I now consider Stellar SPI a hidden Midwestern gem. SPI was my home base for nearly 20 years and I have always found the combination of lower traffic counts, 3 ILSs (two RVR capable), full-service on-site ATC, full-length runways and a minimum of obstacles allowed me to operate corporate aircraft in a maximized manner wet or dry. PS: No one paid me to pen this PIREP and I don't stand to profit by it either. Just passing on an inside tip to my fellow road warriors.

Like going to a Signature branded FBO, without the Signature prices, Stellar is a great place to fuel up and relax. The Staff monitors the airport radio frequencies so I usually don't call ahead and they are outside waiting to help when I land. Be sure to enjoy the hot chocolate machine and a comfortable leather recliner.
