A menu is so interesting and different it makes you want to come back and try everything! At the Mahal, as it is now called, everything is surprisingly different and a joy to experience. The dishes we chose were mildly spiced because our 7 year old doesn't do full on chili heat. She loved everything and so did we. Service was attentive and friendly. The only thing we wished could be better was the desserts. I know India doesn't really do desserts, but there are a few and I just wish one day to find a restaurant that makes a range of truly authentic Indian desserts.

Excellent atmosphere and food. Customer service was good. Good range of Thai and Indian dishes available. I would recommend to have the Thai sea bass curry which was delicious. There are lots of parking available so no need to worry when going in big groups. Big restaurant with large space for parties. Definitely worth a visit.

Staff very helpful and pleasant. Thai and Indian style foods. So can mix and match which was great. Medium Thai curry just right as medium. Main and beer 19 so not too bad. Lots of tables and spaces for groups. Car parking outside and on street free after 6pm.

Starters were not bad overall. Would recommend the paneer tikka and lamb tikka. The lamb Biryani was very nice (more of a Punjabi style) & accompanied with a vegetable sauce which was bland and didn’t really complement the biryani. The lamb Chettinad very well spiced and flavoursome. The chicken jalfrezi could have been spicier and flavoured better. The Mushroom rice was a real let down. Mushrooms were rubbery and rice was plain. Nan bread was fluffy with a slight crisp which tasted good with the curry. One of my main criticisms is value for money. The quality of the food isn’t as great as I’ve experienced at other restaurants within this price range and the portions are pretty small. I understand this place is supposed to be a bit more on the upmarket side but this should be reflected with better quality food. The service was very slow bearing in mind we were the first ones in and other customers were served before us. All in all, wasn’t particularly impressed. The menu is creative and unique but the dishes themselves lack intricate and exciting flavours - basically, a bog standard experience as Indian cuisines go.

A touch too pretentious. No longer the Spice Lodge , where I have enjoyed many superb meals.
