Very poor experience, recently took my daughter in who was unwell for two weeks. She did not have a virus but was vomiting out everything could not stand on her feet, the ambulance took her in. Due to covid I was not allowed to go in with her, my daughter asked one of the nurses to help her to the toilet, she told my daughter to walk to the toilets herself, and was telling her at some point she will need to stand on her feet, don’t understand why she reacted like this with my daughter. In the future please train your nurses on patients circumstances before they put a behaviour on like this. I Just pray God doesn’t ever send my enemy into Southmead A&E, please avoid if you can.

Had to pick up child who had been taken to A & E. Huge, modern building. At 5am it was rather empty but friendly staff on hand. One thing I would suggest is that the signage to A&E is improved because at night I could not see any signs.

The best service provided, everything was perfectly organised, the team was kind, well informed and very professional. I felt like at home. I am grateful. Thank you very much.

Normally everytime I come to this hospital I have a very pleasant experience but on this occasion I was asked to deliver my mother to the McMillan Cancer Center at 06:45 for a 07:00 appointment but staff didn't even enter the building till 07:40

The Brunel building is the main part of Southmead Hospital. The building is absolutely massive and can take several minutes just to walk from one side to the other. There is a car park situated with the building, it is free for the first 20 mins then you will have to pay a high prices charge. The building has a lot of volunteers to hand to help with guidance, a self booking in stations for appointments and a transport cart if needed. The building is divided into sections/departments several levels and all can be accessed by stairs or lifts. There is a pharmacy situated inside, a shop, volunteers café and a couple of Costa Coffee's. In the day this place is buzzing and a busy hive, at night off the wards it is a ghost town with everything shut up and cleaners working busy. The building is clean and tidy. There are obvious signs of the NHS being stretched. Bedrooms are turned into waiting rooms to get people off the corridor and can be waiting 6 hours for treatment. Staff are doing their best with the facilities they have, but struggle with basic needs like not enough wheelchairs or monitors. For a public hospital it is a great facility with displays, a piano, expensive vending machines and plenty of public toilets.
