Southern Prime Steakhouse

Out of all the locations in Southern Pines, this one is pretty good for booking a large group. It is on the pricier side, but the ambiance is beautiful and the service is great. Some of the food can be hit or miss, but when your with good company and have some good cocktails and wine then you're set! I was here for a birthday event and they were really flexible and attentive for our table. They had confetti sprinkled on the table which was a nice touch. They also had a lovely lit mini chocolate cake at the end and surprised us with a printed out birthday photo of our group! My favorite plate is the Land and Sea. You get best of both worlds! The risotto was fantastic--super rich and flavorful. The tenderloin and lobster were also cooked well too. Their Artisanal Cheese Plate left a bit more to be desired. It was decent, but felt like it could have been better. Same with the Truffle Parmesean Steak Fries. Beautiful aroma, but a bit much and not as elegant and I would have hoped. Their wine selection is great and their cocktails are good. Not as visually popping, but flavor wise well balanced. Overall, definite highlights are ambiance and service for sure!

Went for Valentine’s Day for a nice dinner. I ordered the dry aged steak on the menu and it was dry. My wife ordered the filet medium rare and it came well done. We sent it back and when the new steak returned, it looked horrible and my wife only took two bites. No manager came out and the server couldn’t care less. We left totally disappointed and 180 poorer. To make things worse, my wife felt sick all night. Do yourself a favor, and go somewhere else.

A truly WONDERFUL dining experience! Celebrated my husband's Birthday here...table was decorated with Happy Birthday foil cutouts, complementary Hot Lava cake complete with candle and Best of all a photo of all of us, framed with Happy Birthday wishes! And the food??? OUTSTANDING!!

My boyfriend and I have came in for the last three years, and have enjoyed it every time. The food has always been good, and had a great flavor. We came in last night for an early Valentine’s Day dinner, and the food was very bland. I ordered the sea bass meal and it came out somewhat cold, bites here and there were warm. Nothing was hot at all. My boyfriend got a steak and asked for it to be medium rare, it came out almost well. As we have came for the last 3 years for Valentine’s Day we were quiet about our issues and just told our server it could be better and it’s bland. When we got home, we both immediately got sick, our food wasn’t even digested before we threw it all up. Neither of our stomaches settled until all of our food was out of our system. I then called this morning just to speak with someone about our experience, just to leave feedback and was scoffed at and told “well you are speaking the the owner haha, I’ll let my chefs know” while cutting me off when trying to explain our issues. This is a very well off steak house and input on the food should be taken seriously. Lastly we got dessert, the apple cobbler with pecans, it tasted like heated up apple oatmeal. Nothing tasted terrible....because it didn’t have much flavor to taste. When I called to talk with someone, I wasn’t calling to get any money back, just to give input. The fact I was scoffed at as if it wasn’t a big issue that his food wasn’t good was a fact that he doesn’t care if the food is good or bad as long as the money is going into his pocket.

Awesome service and even better food. Both times we've went we had our drinks and appetizers very quickly and our entrées weren't far behind. The steaks are amazing and their cocktail selection is very diverse.
