My gratitude goes to those who maintain the grounds. In order to support to wildlife some of the graves are left to be overgrown. I love the serenity and calmness in here but sad to see some of the gravestones damaged.

Must be a fun spot, we saw a large group of Latinos enter the at midnight with drinks and music while on a walk, heard their revelries for some time, 10/10 great atmosphere hope they invite me to their cult meeting next time

A wonderful old cemetery, c1864, with a wealth of exploring opportunities. With over 116,000 burials in over 27 acres there is much to see. A considerable amount of the graves are left to be overgrown to support wildlife and can not be accessed but this just adds charm to the cemetery. There are many grand graves and also quite a few memorials to those who lost their lives at sea including the Titanic and other maritime disasters. The are many paths throughout the cemetery giving easy access for anyone to see its beauty. For those going off the paths be aware that it is very hazardous underfoot as there are many dangers such as holes and hidden graves making it quite difficult so great care must be taken. Well worth a visit.

It looks like forgotten realm in a middle of a city. Eerie place.

Seriously neglected cemetery on the edge of Southampton Common, essentially disused these days, which left me feeling great disappointment, a little anger, some sadness and also the occasional moment of magic. If you visit and look very closely, I think you'll share those experiences...
