I can't say enough wonderful things about South Beach!! Came in on a whim, Valentine's weekend, and of course they were booked but said we could sit at the cute bar and wait about 30 minutes. The bartender, who we think may have also been the manager, was super friendly & very helpful. Suggested we could order to go,it would be quicker...which we did. We were there about 10 mins and the bartender/manager said they had a cancellation and we were welcome to stay, which we did!! She transferred our order to the table and we had a wonderful server, Jess. It was a lovely night!! Service was impeccable and food was delicious, will definitely visit again!!

South Beach Grill has deep history within the Wrightsville Beach community and one can feel that history when enjoying a meal here. The remodeling that was done after hurricane Florence is extremely well done. The view of the sound is absolutely beautiful whether you sit inside or outside. This would be a fun place to come in the evenings and have some drinks with friends. A coffee shop is also next door and it’s a short walk from the beach. The only thing I felt that could be improved is the mom&pop pepsi-cola cups that we were served water in. Although nostalgic, I feel that they are outdated in this atmosphere. The pulled pork is also slightly bland- more flavor with that meat in particular here would be beneficial. Otherwise, great experience, great food, and a pleasant staff.
Ordered carryout via Chowhound. Pros: Ease of online ordering, food was ready earlier than estimate, staff was friendly and welcoming. Calamari starter was excellent. Even though it was listed for dine-in only, it was available for carry out and did not disappoint. Food was securely and nicely packed up. Cons: Makers Mark Salad (w added shrimp) - For 17 it was fine but unimpressive. Bourbon honey dressing was creative and good. Vegetable pasta pesto was fine, also 17. South beach tacos - we ordered chicken, received shrimp. Daughter has a shrimp allergy so she switched with the veggie pasta meal. 14 In the restaurant's defense, we did not give them an opportunity to rectify the problem. I didn't check the meals before we left (my fault) and we were already all the way back at our hotel and back in our room before the error was discovered. So it was fine. Next time, we might just order a bunch of starters to share instead of the entrees. Don't pass up the calamari!
3 stars only because I had very high expectations. Overall, the cornbread was good, autumn bisque was ok, sweet potato flounder was good, but the Low Country Seafood ”Mac and Cheese”.....that was GREAT! I would highly recommend the Low Country Seafood ”Mac and Cheese”.
The location of South Beach is great, the patio has nice views of the channel and close to the beach. The food is just so-so, and given the price, makes it not a place we’ll be going back to. Service was good, good atmosphere, just needs help in the kitchen to justify the high prices and limited options.
