I must also say our Sommelier Extraordinaire Richie was equally as Talented! Rarely do you get a wine pairing that stands up to the menu. We placed ourselves in his hands only to be wonderfully surprised at just how much the wines chosen beautifully complemented and elevated the dishes to even higher levels! Amazing pairing! A true art, l can’t wait to go back!! The 8 course menu with the basic wine pairing was fantastic! The restaurant was able to offer a pescatarian menu for me with no problem. The staff is very friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable about what they serve. Each course was better than the one before! The wines that were paired with my courses were perfect. I couldn’t finish my final course I was so full. I’m so glad I reserved far enough in advance to snag a seat on the one weekend I was in Chicago. I highly recommend Smyth over any other Michelin started restaurant in Chicago.
The burgers! Yes please! Curbside was easy to do and the staff is always pleasent to work with
The food is very good. It is well balanced, thoughtful, and somewhat creative. Was it a memorable meal? Sure. Is it one I will be able to readily recall in 5 years? unlikely. The service though is absolutely incredible. It is attentive without being overbearing. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and patient. I would definitely recommend checking out Smyth, but I am not quite convinced it is worth the price.
