First time in the area last week and didnt know where to get some food . Came across this place but was initially concerned as it says it's a fish and chip shop which serves pet food too ?????I believe they service fish for pet cats . That initially put me off but then I saw they had a 5 star hygiene rating . Also checked their reviews on google and it was very promising and decent. Definitely a decent chip shop. Clean and tidy inside and chips were not very oiley

Spent ages trying to find a chippie that sold Skate/Skate Wings for my Dad who loves it. Found Smithsons via a Google review from back in 2016 as they don't have a website. Gave them a call and they answered immediately and confirmed that they still sold Skate which was an answer to pray. They do take phone orders for collection but we chose to order in person. Covid adherence was very good and the wait time, considering the Skate Wings were cooked to order, was very short. Portions are more than enough and the quality is amazing. Highly recommemd this place to any officianados of the great British chippie. Menu is correct at time of review as collected when we ate there on Friday 20th November 2020.
Absolutely brilliant take away. We ordered online and used the car pick up service. The order was ready when we arrived and still piping hot. All we had to do was call and it was delivered to our car. Couldn't recommend more.
Smithsons Fish and Chips for me is the very best Fish and Chips shop I have ever been to. The Cod and Chips are both remarkably delicious. The people that work there are good humble people. I always feel welcome from the moment I walk in and the kind lady that works behind the counter almost always asks me how my Grandma is. The Gentleman that cooks always takes time to say hello and goodbye even if it's really busy in there. I thank God that Smithsons exists.
Nearly snapped my tooth with the chips, curry sauce was water down a lot, not going there again and I will go that extra mile to go to chez fred in westbourne next time
