We love this place. Beautiful ruins, stepping stones, activities along path. Amazing views along the way. The walks here are fantastic. Take a picnic for a full day of fun. Bbq's are restricted at the moment.

Beautiful place and wonderful get away for couples and families with children and dogs. This place will charm you and will stay long in your memories. Rustic England in a nutshell, the Duke of Devonshire's Yorkshire Dales' estate of Bolton Abbey is a thoroughly charming place fora camping holiday. With some 30,000 acres of rolling countryside and woodland, flanking the scenic banks of the River Wharfe, there's plenty of space around here for campsites. And, if it sounds a lot to get to grips with, it's a well-drilled visitor experience that starts for most at the petite estate village of Bolton Abbey itslef, seven miles east of Skipton. The estate has 80 miles of footpaths in total – heather moorland to woodland trails – with detours through evocative-sounding destinations like the Valley of Desolation and many of the paths are pushchair-friendly (kids love the riverside; there's even a beach area below the priory ruins). I would definitely recommend to visit this place.

Stunning views, decent swim in the river Wharf and some impressive history. The sings around the Abbey give the information you'd want to know, yet it is not too much to read, despite the Abbey having been around for a very long time. The general area is astoundingly beautiful and well worth a hike or just a quick visit to the Abbey.

We stopped off here on our way back from our break in the Dales. Easy pre book system and only 10 to park and roam free. The scenery is gorgeous. Sitting by the river listening to it flow past was so relaxing. Well worth the stop.

The landscape is awesome. It’s well designed to for all ages, especially the Welly Walks; walking along the riverside, woodland and moorland paths. My advice is wear appropriate clothes and check the weather before setting off. The kids had lots of fun running around and also had something to showcase at school (Show and Tell). A place to be with the kids during school half term. Interestingly, saw some families having a BBQ, by the river towards Barden Bridge.
