Skinny Kitten Cafe

A Wonderful Discovery! So, we didn't pre-book for the National Memorial Arboretum... onto Plan B and a mooch around Barton-under-Needwood. As we love cats and quirky, stylish interiors, just the name piqued our curiosity! Greeted with a very warm welcome (in COVID-19 specification PPE) we chose a table in The Snug. The Skinny Kitten Cafe offers a menu with a wide and choice, including vegetarian and vegan options. Our food was served in style and tasted as good as it looked. Have I mentioned the in-house baked cakes? The selection is truly tempting, with the final choice being the only difficult decision. I can definitely recommend the chocolate covered flapjack - the perfect treat with a cup of tea! Whether you are local or passing through, the Skinny Kitten Cafe is highly recommended. I think a minor diversion might be needed on our next road trip... see you soon!

Thought I’d have a second attempt at this place. The last time I went in six months ago, the lady asked me if I wanted hot or cold milk in my flat white. (Eh?!?) Maybe I got unlucky. Below is a picture from Round 2 last week, which shows, supposedly, a flat white and an americano. (Your guess is as good as mine). The taste was as good as they look - they went in the bin. Utterly dire experience. Owner: If you can’t train your staff to make different coffees then you shouldn’t be offering them.

Quirky, cosy cafe. Stylish and comfortable inside. Food was good, staff very friendly. Just FYI if you’re looking for a working spot; WiFi signal is a bit intermittent around the back, and you’re not allowed to plug laptops in.

Absolutely delicious takeaway Afternoon Tea. A lovely selection of sandwiches, scones with cream & jam, followed by yummy cakes. All presented in a takeaway box. Efficient service and easy payment. Socially distanced collection. Go on......treat yourself!
