Thanks to The Skimmington Castle and despite living in Tier 4, we have just had the most wonderfully relaxing Christmas Day. We pre-booked 3 of their takeaway turkey dinners (with all the trimmings), along with salmon and avocado starters (enormous - see photo), and 3 varieties of pudding. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it. Also included in the price were 3 little 'favours' in pretty mesh bags containing a chocolate, a joke (quite funny), paper crown and a riddle - plus a voucher for 10% off a meal in January. All this for all for just 40 per head. No slaving for hours in the kitchen, we just collected it at our allotted time, brought it home and enjoyed it - with only the plates to wash up. Brilliant! It made our Christmas Day - Thanks to all who worked so hard to make it happen.

This is a memorable place to go to enjoy a meal and a drink. It is situated in a lovely location with various levels of walks if you are so inclined. Has its own organic nursery and range of products to buy.
Just had a brilliant roast. Really welcoming staff. Great customer service and the food was delicious. A new favourite. Even my picky 9 year old wants to go back every week. Top marks on all counts. Great find ️
I went on a Sunday lunchtime on a hot day with my daughter and her partner. The attention to detail regarding social distancing etc was excellent. We all had a roast dinner. 2 chicken and 1 beef. Totally delicious with good choice of vegetables. Yummy gravy. Home cooked and gorgeous. I have had roasts in many places. This was the best! How anybody could post a bad review is beyond me! Food being plentiful, I had to take a little home. The container was even degradable. Dogs are very welcome too! I loved this place. The staff were wonderful. Thank you so much for a lovely experience.
Love the Skimmington Castle. Great service - friendly with a personal touch. Great beers and food. Been going there regularly for years, and never tire of it. A place that makes you feel welcome.
