This is a fantastic museum and an absolute \must visit\ site if you are in Syracuse. Allow plenty of time to walk round if you have any interest in the prehistory, Greek or Roman periods as there are masses of fascinating exhibits. Everything is well laid out and lit very nicely. Many items (but not all!) have informative explanations in English. Buying a joint ticket with the Greek theatre open air site nearby saves you a bit of money.

Lot of pots, statues and artifacts in pre christ era. If you're into this thing you'll sure like it.

Very interesting museum, huge collections. Loads of information, also in English. Bit on the factual side, so reading all the information might tend to get a bit boring. Where here on a Wednesday morning in October, barely any other visitors so very relaxed visit.

We bought the ticket for the museum as a bundle with the Greek theatre. You will be pot crazy unless this really your thing, tons and tons of ceramics. Allow about 3 hours for a slow meander through the exhibits. If you are going to visit the local crypt then make sure you find the artifacts here.

Is really sad to see that Italians do not care to keep and maintain archeological sites clean,a few & ever lasting. So much work to do yet no one is doing it.and I sure there's money for it. Truly a shame...
