Decent carvery at a reasonable price. Vegetables were not overcooked, which is rare (pardon the pun). Staff were friendly but clearly very busy. My only suggestions would be to invest in a plate warmer, and maybe get some more ales on tap (do you really need to offer two American 'beers'?). Some of the reviewers on here need to adjust their expectations because you shouldn't expect haute cuisine for under a tenner per head.

Since they changed hands Nov 2017 this place is so much better. They are offering a great selection of foods from carvery to pizza and burgers. Their pizzas are fantastic and the Calzone was YUMMY!!! There is a salad counter and a pizza counter for freshly made pizzas to order. For the pizzas you are given a buzzer to go collect your pizza from the counter. The orders are taken from your table though so not totally table service but close enough. The carvery looks fresh and there was a steady stream of people getting them. The place is nice and clean with a bright interior. There is wheelchair access to everywhere including down at the restaurant via a wheelchair lift and ramped entrance. There are disabled parking spaces in the car park.

A few years ago we wouldn't have as much as a cuppa in " the George " however since its refit a couple of years ago the whole place has got back to it's best. We went in for dinner midweek and were pleased to find they've got a very good method of coping with Covid and the serving difficulties it brings. Food was excellent, good value as ever and the service was impeccable, lovely friendly and efficient staff. Well done the George .

Visited 28th of September evening time. Came in for a roast with my family. The waitress (Emily) was extremely friendly with us, she explained all the steps of what's going to happen got our drinks all at a great pace. But the review goes to the chefs that evening, didn't ask the waitress for their names but they were firing food out of the kitchen at an incredible pace. We came as a four and I think it must've taken around 1 minute at best to plate our food up and serve it to our table! It looked amazing as well! All food was hot and will definitely be coming again! Big pat on the back to those chefs.

THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS FAR MORE THAN A CARVERY. IT OFFERS A COMFORTABLE BAR AND RELAXING AREA. BUT JUST AS IMPORTANT IS THE FRIENDLINESS OF THE STAFF AND THEIR EXPERTISE. I EAT AND 'SUP' THERE REGULARLY AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO.
