We drove from Burley to this lovely place. Lucy et al. were very welcoming, the place was lovely and clean, the food was lovely... Lucy made the knickerbocker glory for my partner herself. I had the apple tart, which was delicious. The important information on the puddings out the way, the mains were well done too. My partner had the Hunter's Chicken and it was lovely and moist. I had the superfood salad and couldn't finish it as it was very filling. Don't be fooled by the word salad! More than enough for a main dish. Plus I had to leave room for the pudding! Would thoroughly recommend this place. Fabulous

Absolutely beautiful roast dinner today. Choice of three meats (I had the beef, nice and pink), roasties and veg cooked to absolute perfection. The staff were friendly and professional. Sat out in the garden. Loads of space. Highly recommended

Did an impromptu visit to Highcliffe Beach and after we left wanted to grab a bite to eat. We found the Ship in Distress as we drove through Christchurch heading home and am glad we stopped. The car park is behind the pub which is easy to miss, I did the first time, but once you do drive in plenty of parking. When we went in the staff were really friendly and helpful, thanks to the good weather we chose to sit in the outside area which was really nice. Service was great, perfect balance of being available but not coming up every 10 mins to check on you. Food was really nice and didn't take too long to arrive. Would recommend this pub for anyone passing through Christchurch.

The staff are so welcoming and friendly. They cannot do enough for the customers. Service is prompt and always with a smile. Food is delicious and there is a good variety all at reasonable prices. The decor inside is modern and fresh. Outside has a lovely sunny garden with ample seating and parasol for shade. Thank you Sarah, Drew and all the staff.
