Authentic English history Just imagine an abbey equivalent to Westminster Abbey in the 16th century and this is the place.A female only religious sanctuary founded by Alfred the Great regrettably it became a victim of it own success. By the time of the reformation it was one of the richest religious place in England. For Henry VIII and Thomas Cromwell it was time to cash in, the Abbey still allied to the Pope they saw it as a rich prize so confiscated it. Beautiful gardens and interesting story

It reminds me of a crazy golf course! Seriously though... Very nice place.
The view is spectacular even without knowing it's part of film history.
Nice but little to see. Lovely welcome reception by the staff with a good museum in the foyer. The Abbey remains are interesting to see but little above some foundation blocks remain
Nice gardens with info on the ruins within the grounds
