I used to work for Wates in Birmingham. It was a good company, but the van drivers were very sneaky & used to steal kitchen cabinets & just simple things, but they'd charge the customers for the stuff that they stole, so that the people could have more cupboards. The joiners didn't know & had to fit the extra stuff, because they thought if it was in the house, it had to be fitted. The man John was the worst thief, because he wouldn't tell anyone what he was doing, even though he did it all the time & got away with it. If someone had got caught, they wouldn't have even known that they were stealing, but could've still lost their job. He used to sometimes say about some of the things he stole, but he'd just call it a HOMER & say that if you get a HOMER from a customer, he'd help you deliver it. It's wrong, but he just kept ripping Wates off & some weeks made more money doing that than he got wages. His brother helped as well & he was the only other one to benefit from the thefts, financially. It was just wrong though for the customers, although they did want to pay for the extra cupboards.
