No need to scower around Sendai for delicious gyutan, it's conveniently at Sendai station. The first bite had me pause and contemplate life, it's that delicious. Seriously, drop by.

Ox tongue is the must-eat in Sendai. Tanya Zenjirou can be reached from the crossbridge level. It is just opposite to KFC which should be easy to spot. The ox tongue there is very good but I gave this restaurant 4 stars instead of 5 as I like Rikyu (another more famous brand) better.

The price is very good for the quality and portion size. It was very delicious. This restaurant focuses on beef tongue so pretty much every dish contains it in some form or another. Service is very good, it’s speedy and you can see them grilling it as you order.

I have tried grilled tongue (gyutan) many times in Singapore and Japanese BBQ in Sydney. The texture are pretty much the same. However when I tried the gyutan at Tanya Zenjiro, I understand what premium grade truly is. Tanya Zenjiro grilled the meat to perfection. The meat is tender and subtle. Sendai is famous for their beef tongue dishes so if you are going to try at least once, it has to be Tanya Zenjiro. It is on level 3 of Sendai station. English menu is also available.

Extra thick cut beef tongue set and beef tongue sausages were pretty good but not the best I ever had.

Has tried both the standard and thick beef tongue set. I love the thick one much more, as it is more tender and delicious. But be patient and prepared to queue for at least 30 mins.
