As a Jew from the suburbs of Boston, Schmaltzy’s does not live up to my expectations. Because there is almost nowhere in Seattle to grab a bagel, cream cheese and lox, I have found myself stopping by occasionally but it’s like going to Starbucks when you could go to the local coffee shop or bakery next door. It’s not that you don’t like Starbucks but it definitely has corporate vibes and the neighborhood coffee shop vibe is cozy and you get that homemade sort of feeling. For me, Schmaltzy’s might grab that fourth star if they started making cinnamon raisin bagels. But with relatively slim offerings compared to what I would expect from a typical Jewish deli on the east coast and the airy sort of vibe it just can’t compare!

Absolutely loved it, great service and delicious food! It was my first time trying this place, I’ve got the O.G sandwich, it comes with a side of a salad, they have 4 different salads for your choice, the prices is excellent for the amount of food. I’ll definitely come back to try more of their stuff!

Really good pastrami sandwich. Potato salad and pickles were exactly what I wanted. Haven't tried the baked goods yet but I'm excited for them.

I visited Schmaltzy’s on a Saturday afternoon and was really impressed with the things I got. I have wanted to visit for some time and remember seeing the Napkin Friends truck driving around years ago so I was happy to visit. They make it easy to order online and see what’s available. My order took less time than quoted as well. They had the order ready to be picked up on the online order table to the right of the counter which made it very low contact. I ended up ordering the Schmear latke sandwich with house cured lox, avocado, and arugula and it was excellently crafted. The latkes weren’t very greasy and the combination of the beet flavor on the smooth lox with the rich and creamy avocado and lightly spicy arugula was perfect. In addition, I ordered their schnecken, rugelach, babka loaf, and black and white cookies. Everything was great and I especially enjoyed the black and white cookies with the soft cookie and the nicely sweet icings. I regret not coming here sooner, but hope to be back soon. It’s a great place to get some excellent Jewish food.

Schmaltzy's is a local Jewish style deli that sources a lot of things locally and is right on Leary in Frelard. Their prices are a little bit above average, but you get very good sized portions and great tastes. If you get there early enough, they will usually have fresh bagels. Their menu is pretty solid, with a bunch of sides you can get with your sandwiches or soups. Corned beef or pastrami is the go to here, easily their best sandwich is the Traditional. Matzo ball soup is delicious, so try that as well. Would highly recommend if you're around, make sure to check for their hours since they aren't open all the time and parking is only a few spots so you might need to go down a block.
