Unveiled on September 15, 1995 by R.C.M. de Kuijper, former director of the 300-year-old jenever factory Johs De Kuyper & Zn bv, who donated it to the Schiedam population. On the occasion of this anniversary, the company acquired the designation 'royal' on 9 June of that year.
