Let me first state that about half of the officers in this department are thieves and too scared to do their jobs. One detective specifically will lie and trample on your rights whenever he chooses. (Det.Lee Smith) Most of the patrol officers have nothing to do besides attempt to catch speeders all day, and whenever the time comes to use any amount of force to protect the city they will cower far from danger, and after they've finally mustered the balls to do something they'll shake like little girls. There are a few very good officers in this department. Unfortunately the bad apples ruins it all. Your officers ARE NOT to dispute civil cases. When they arrive for a civil standby that's all it entails, standby. They need retraining, terribly.

As a resident of Savage, I have had only positive interactions with the Savage Police and staff. Today I had a minor situation and called the non-emergency line for help. As I was having a panic attack due to the issue, I was grateful the two staff members I spoke with handled my call professionally and patiently. The officer was very knowledgeable and helpful in resolving the situation. I am very grateful Savage has very professional and well trained officers and staff.
