I was sold an obvious counterfeit Cartier Love Ring with serial number 52833A. The item description was changed after I had placed my bid but before the end of the auction. The words \believed to be genuine\ were added. I was not notified. When I ring arrived I immediately thought something was amiss. I googled hallmarks of a fake. It bore a few (\love\ printed on the underside, among others). I contacted SAS immediately who tried to convince me that the ring was part of a rich woman's estate: why would she have fake jewellery? I started to panic as although I had entered my card details with my bid they had actually requested payment via bank transfer (no Section 75 protection). I took the ring to Cartier who confirmed the ring was 100% Counterfeit. Luckily I was able to get this in writing. I returned the ring and got a full refund including postage each way. If you Google the serial number you'll see it a famous fake ring on sale across the internet. I could spot the fake so I can't believe an auction house couldn't.

Unlike too many auction houses (!) the auctioneers are entertaining and not irritable, the premises are easy to find, a very nice lady helped me with collection - and the premises are spotlessly clean. Customer service 10/10
