Cucu means grandchild in Indonesian. Grandchildren are the new generation, new hope, a symbol for the future. Cucu searches for and sponsors projects solely in third world countries, which aim to improve the lives of children. The goal of the projects should be to gain improvement in at least one of the following four areas: 1) Education, 2) Medical care, food & well-being, 3) Sports, games, cultural & general development, and 4) Emergency relief. The Cucu Foundation attempts to work together with local initiative takers as much as possible. Whenever possible, the Cucu board members try to visit the projects themselves, at their own expense. Cucu is completely run by volunteers. The Cucu board members make sure that more than 98% of the donations are being used to improve the futures of needy children.
