Fantastic! Santa Cruz is an ethnic food desert. I'd been waiting til my family was fully vaccinated to venture out, but saw this restaurant open mid-pandemic and had been curious about it. It was the place we chose to break our quarantine and everything was fantastic! Excellent, authentic flavors, great service, awesome outdoor seating. Welcome to the neighborhood, Copal!

Excellent place. Service is solid, and the food is creative while being respectful of it's Oaxacan roots.
We've been here 4 times in the past year. The moles are outstanding and you can even get a little mole taster plate to help you decide. One night we met the owner and the head chef. Every time we've visited we sat outside (twice on the patio, twice in the parking lot tent), but I'm excited about getting inside soon. I'm a fan of mezcal, so that has been a real treat as well. If you've never had any, give it a try! And try the appetizer sampler plate! It's great to share. Really only positives here!
We really liked our dinner here. Excellent and unique dishes (especially the Tyaluda), good service, and very reasonable prices. I think they're undercharging for a lot of things. Indoor dining wasn't open yet, but we were plenty warm on the front patio near a heat lamp after 8 PM. Make a reservation or you're likely to have a long wait or get turned away on Friday/Saturday night. We'll definitely be back.
Great Oaxacan cuisine in Santa Cruz. Not particularly care for red mole but this cook made it delicious and I was very pleased.
Just an outstanding meal, literally the best one we’ve had all year! The density of flavor defies the space time continuum The mole sauces exhibit a meteor shower of spices and warmth and are the star of the show, not to mention the cocktails went down like a homesick mole. Highly highly recommend to anyone interesting in sampling a culinary masterpiece
Great experience! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, they gave a great tour of the menu including specials and substitutions for vegetarians in our party. The food itself was excellent; they say the mole is cooked for three days and it shows! Incredible depth of flavor, the kind of place you want to scrape every drop of sauce with leftover chips. I usually don’t prefer corn tortillas even though it’s more traditional, but the fresh, hand-made ones here are absolutely to die for. Finally their drink menu was really varied and interesting. Seems like everything they offer pairs well. I got the Santa Iguana, which was very refreshing and vegetal, and complemented the rich and earthy mole. The only difficulty is of course seating. There are currently Covid restrictions, so not a fault of the restaurant. To their credit, they have a lovely outdoor patio with great atmosphere and music. I made a reservation in the morning day-of, but I saw people turned away at the door who tried to walk up and get seated on a weekend night. Just make a reservation and you should be fine! Overall, highly recommend!
Hands down one of my favorite restaurants in Santa Cruz. Fabulous moles! Excellent customer service
