Makes you cry from the beauty of the voices. Top Rate when given full artistic freedom.

I saw Aida yesterday and it was definitely overpriced for what was offered. Despite overall good music, the stage was poorly arranged with absolutely no scenography (this is 50% of the beauty of this opera). Very far away from the Aida I saw in Milan for the same price.

We saw wicked in this theater and it was lovely. The orchestra was incredible!! It really made the show to have live music. The stage was a great space. There were concessions on every level. Great experience.

Here is the bottom line: I just can't spend 50 on a ticket in the nosebleed section, no matter how much I want to see an opera. So a note to the SD Opera itself: You will become irrelevant to younger generations very quickly unless you loosen up your ticket prices, or offer discounts, or something similar. The economic situation for younger generations is exceptionally different than what it was for the baby boomers that make up much of your audience when they were our age. We cannot afford the things they could afford when they were younger, and this includes expensive opera tickets. It is a brutal fact that unless you get younger people interested in (and able to attend) the opera, you will go the way of the dinosaurs in short order. By removing yourself as an entertainment option now, you ensure that you will be out of our sight and therefore out of our contemplation later. I'm not insensitive to the need to make money to cover the costs of a production. But you all seem to be insensitive to the need to carry on as an institution in the long term. I applaud the innovation you have shown in choosing shows that will interest 'nontraditional opera-goers'. Now that you have our attention, please put some effort into making your tickets affordable enough that we can go see them.

Rigoletto was awesome. Stage was well done, performance was outstanding, music was beautiful and at at 55, a great value.

We always enjoy going to the Civic theater. Trolley in, dinner, show, trolley out.
