Samarth-NMDP ( Nepal Market Development Program) is a DFID-funded 5-year rural market development programme. Mission: To reduce poverty in Nepal by increasing the income of 30000 small holder farmers and small scale entrepreneurs. Vision: A market, which does not require aid-funded support and where interventions are guided by a clearly defined exit strategy. Approach: Making Markets Work for Poor ( M4P) Approach. The program aims at generating two outputs: Output 1: To improve the underlying pro-poor performance of rural sectors – particularly agriculture. Output 2: To enhance the capacity for effective pro-poor market development among key stakeholders, including government throughout Nepal, leading to a positive and sustained practice change. The programme is currently implementing a portfolio of ten sectors: Crop Protection, Dairy, Fish, Ginger, Livestock Feed, Mechanization, Media, Pig, Tourism and Vegetables. .
