Sam Mehta - Weight Loss Surgeon

Mr Mehta was very professional and informative throughout my consultation. He listened to my questions carefully and answered honestly and appropriately with the patients best interest at heart. I proceeded to go head with my gastric sleeve surgery and have had no complications and a speedy recovery since. Mr Mehta even called the hospital during the night out of his working hours to check on my progress. I would like to deeply thank Mr Mehta for being such a great surgeon. I could not have asked for any better.

My experience of my procedure with Mr Sam Mehta was faultless. He was informative, caring and gave me much to think about after my initial consultation. I had my procedure in April and recovered well and am losing weight successfully. I would highly recommend him to anyone requiring a similar procedure.

I had been toying with the idea of a gastric band for years and finally built up the courage to go for a consultation. I was very nervous about the proceedure so I asked many questions. Mr Mehta answered all of my questions open and honestly putting my mind at rest, with a relaxed and freindly manner. I decided to go ahead with the surgery and had my proceedure May of this year. I was disappointed by Dr Mehta's dismissive attitude and rudeness towards me during my consultation. My impression was that he was irritated as if I was wasting his precious time. He didn't wait for me to finish speaking and he was sarcastic. When I asked if I would have a investigatory gastroscopy every few years to check if the lining of my oesophagus hasn't changed (as I suffer from constant acid reflux), he laughed and said that if they referred everyone who suffers from heart burn for a gastroscopy, they'd only have the endoscopy unit in the hospital. I felt stupid for asking the question but I'm not a doctor and I'm not just a regular person who only occasionally suffers from heart burn. I have it every single day and have had it for the last 10 years. It wasn't even what he said but the way he said it (in a condescending tone as if I were an idiot) and the fact that he laughed. If he can't help me, fine but why the nastiness? Not a nice experience. I left feeling frustrated, hurt and angry.

Mr Mehta talked me through every weight loss surgery the pros and the cons told me this is not a easy way out more of a tool to help I found him very charming and answered every question I asked I'm just over three wks now from having my gastric band fitted and I've had no problems my journey starts now and hoping that my health problem due to my weight start to diminish just want to say very professional from the beginning
