This is a destination restaurant for anyone visiting Salisbury. I suspect the menu is English comfort food at its best. Everything is yummy, but the historical building itself is the real prize. Additionally, there's a smoke preserved mummified hand on display in the former bread oven!

A group of 4 dined here this evening and we all thoroughly enjoyed our dinner choices. The pork belly was sublime and the venison casserole and trio were a hit with my companions. My niece has a dairy allergy but was still offered a range of choices. she opted for the fish and chips which she relished!

Important note: the kitchen does not open until 5:30pm meaning you can only get drinks from the bar until after that time when food becomes available. This information is not posted anywhere and likely changes based on time of year. That said, I had the twice cooked pork belly with chips instead of mash and it was absolutely fantastic. The cut of pork belly was huge, with a crispy layer of skin on top and well rendered layers of meat and fat underneath. The roasted root veggies and gravy that comes with it were also fantastic. Prices were very reasonable as well. This is a very historic pub with a lot of unique character, and you should definitely find one night to have dinner here if you're in town!

Great old style pub in the heart of Salisbury, they were really accomodating even with covid restrictions! Would definitely recommend stopping in if your in Salisbury.

Said to be the oldest pub in Salisbury. It felt old with the remains of a skeleton on display. The service was good: helpful and attentive but I felt to protein to carbohydrates fell too heavily on the carbs. My friend had a small venison steak but was overwhelmed with chips. My version sausages served with a creamy mash were great but would have been better if accompanied by some greens instead of carrots and parsnips
