This church was a huge surprise. Highly upset that the town was closed at 16:30 on a Friday, we decided to head into this open church. We expected a quick look around, but were greeted by a tour guide who asked if we wanted to learn about the church. Of course! It was AMAZING! The guide talked to us about the history and how the church came to be. Simply overwhelming! The pictures will never do this fabulous place justice. A must see and please schedule a tour....fantastic! Not enough stars possible to give!

We were staying at Hare House in Wilton and every morning when in the kitchen we could see the rear section of the church (and sometimes sheep as well!) We left exploring the church until the final day of our holiday and it was worth the wait. Taking the opportunity to walk through the peace and serenity of the graveyard and the sunlight filtering through the trees, we walked all the way around the building before entering. As we crossed the threshold, we became aware of a morning service taking place, so we silently sat down and waited for it to conclude. Asking if it was alright to take pictures, we walked around the wonderful surroundings and the feeling of being enveloped in calm and tranquility. We said our farewell to the church and transited once again into the real world.

Stunning romanesque church in the village of Wilton. It looks like it has been plucked from Italy and deposited in the English countryside. The architecture is amazing and the grounds were serene during our trip. Well worth a visit if you are in the area and appreciate this kind of architecture.

I wasn't planning on visiting, but on a whim we stopped off before heading into Salisbury. A stunning interior, with some wonderful lighting. Friendly lady looking after the church, keen to share her knowledge. What's not to like?
