I am extremely grateful to Meiji for their free factory tour in Sakado. Not only is it very interesting and informative, but it is also a sensual experience: the delightful waft of the chocolate hits you the moment you are in the vicinity of the factory AND you get to taste some of their produce. On top of that, you get some goodies to take home :-O I really don't want to talk bad about such a generous company, but! They lose a star for two reasons: one is that you can't currently park at the factory and there is no coin parking nearby. However, that is only a temporary issue as they do some work within the factory grounds. The other is that there is a lot of video footage - first in the introductory lecture in the reception building and then again in the factory itself. They could do without the latter, but in fairness it is very interesting. An understanding of Japanese is essential for this tour. They have no English support information. Children under 4 are not allowed take the tour. It is strictly for aged 4 up. You will find more photos and information in English on the Saitama With Kids blog.
Very good chocolate factory
冬休みのファミリー見学会に参加しました。カールの製造は終了してしまいましたが、チョコレートの甘い香りが漂う中、とても勉強になる楽しい見学会でした。 お土産は、プッカ、果汁グミ(️この２つは通常のお土産と一緒)、マクビティビスケット、アポロ、ハイレモンの五種類！冬休みの特別版だそうです。 見学途中でも、チョコレートと果汁グミの試食が戴けます。製造ラインの従業員さんが笑顔で手をふってくれたり、全体的に雰囲気よかったです。 カールの製造棟だったところで、果汁グミのビデオと説明を見ます。残念ながら、“うカール神社”は見ることができませんでした(廊下の奥のほうにうっすら確認することはできましたが……) 構内に売店がないので、お土産を買い足すことが出来ないのが残念です。
チョコレートのラインが止まってしまったとの事で… 工場見学に行ったのに、機械が動いてる所は全く見られず…説明と映像だけ。 カカオの匂いはすごかったけど チョコレートが止まったなら、他のラインを見せてくれるなどの対応がほしかった。 おわびといって、アポロをくれた時も、特別ですよともったいつけられた(笑) わざわざ行ったのに、かなり残念
Webで工場見学の予約をして行きました。 若葉駅から徒歩で歩いてみましたがマックがある道をひたすら真っ直ぐなので迷いませんでした。 おみやげでポッカと果汁グミ、キーチェーンを見学前に頂きました。 明治のミルクチョコレートとツインクルの製造ラインの見学が出来ました。果汁グミの製造は映像で説明。ミルクチョコレートと果汁グミの個包装の試食を頂きました。 チョコレート工場の館内は一歩足を踏み込むと甘い臭いが広がっていて子ども達は喜んでいました。 説明30分見学40分で合計75分程度の見学でした。 4歳未満のお子さんは参加不可。販売等はありません。
