A disappointing evening especially for our only one away from the kids. We had walked past this restaurant a few times and noted the delicious looking food and lovely setting away from the busy port. So we came back and enjoyed some oysters and very nice wine to start. But that was the only good part of the evening. The service was terrible. After being told there were no tables we pointed out a free one and got seated. Two of us ordered steaks \à point\ and, perhaps a misunderstanding as the waitress preferred to reply in basic English even though one of our party is a fluent french teacher, but two well overcooked steaks arrived. The patron was called and told us those steaks were \à point\ - see picture, there was no pink in sight. The meat was too tough to eat and we received no apology, so we settled up and left. Sometimes mistakes happen but the way we were spoken to and the way the situation was handled was not professional. I see similar reviews on here and one from last night too. Though there are plenty of positive ones, so perhaps they don't like tourists. it seems there is one rule for locals and another for tourists

Fascinating place, good lunch. Away from the tourist madness of the port, the building is like a ship. Good food, great service.

We were a group of 8 and selected this restaurant to celebrate a birthday. From the moment we arrived, we were not made to feel welcome. We were served aperitifs and eventually our starters, although one one them was sent back as it was ordered as a main course. We then waited a considerable time for wine and upon enquiry were told by an English speaking waiter to 'go and sit down and to speak French'. Still nothing arrived so we agreed to pay up and leave at the same time as 2 plates of burnt food arrived at the table. A female member of our party went to advise that we were leaving and asked what we owed and was then grabbed by the shoulders, turned round and pushed forcibly towards the door by someone who seemed to be in charge. Very unexpected, worrying and upsetting behaviour. We have since eaten at several restaurants on Ile de Re and received delicious food with friendly and efficient service.'

Great food, wine list and atmosphere. Steaks cooked perfectly and the little filled jacket potatoes with my filet were ace. Wanted to try more on the menu. Oh and thanks for singing happy birthday to my girlfriend!

Very welcoming, enjoyed a good plate of tuna tartare on the outdoor terrace. Good location, just far enough away from the bustle of the harbour.
