We broke down 15 minutes into our 4 hr journey home from holiday, at 9pm with 2 small children in the car. Volvo On Call contacted Tonkin and Josh arrived within an hour (having been told by Volvo that there were 5 adults in the car). He did a thorough check of the car and quickly identified the problem. He said they could recover us to their garage, provide us with a courtesy car so we could continue our journey, and tow our car back to us in Oxfordshire the following week. Volvo/Allianz refused this on the basis that they would only allow recovery within a 50 mile radius. After several phone calls between us, Tonkin and Allianz, a brilliant lady at Tonkin managed to persuade Allianz to agree to what they (Tonkin) had offered. A Tonkin flat bed arrived with courtesy car, we loaded what we could from our car into it, and they took our car back to their garage (still with lots of our stuff in it, bikes on a rack on the back, and roof box!). We arrived home at 5am. Having been told by Tonkin that they would be able to bring our car back \some time\ the following week (we broke down on Friday night), it was back by lunchtime on the Monday. A very nice guy from Tonkin (feel terrible I can't remember his name!) unloaded our car onto the road and helped me carry everything from the car across the road, through a back gate and into our driveway. This included taking the roof box and the bike rack off the car. I wouldn't have been able to do it on my own (my husband was at work) but without knowing this, he insisted on doing it all. The service we received from Tonkin was absolutely brilliant, and all the employees polite and empathetic to our situation.. we honestly couldn't recommend them highly enough.. Thank you everyone at Tonkin for a brilliant service!!

Hi haven't actually been to this place, but a huge thank you To a driver that pulled my son out of a massive puddle near kentisbury north Devon on stormy night. I believe he was on his way to another recovery when happened upon him nearly floating in the puddle. Many thanks.
Came to Cornwall for a 50th birthday holiday which was stopped in it's tracks by a Dead Alternator. Two lads from Tonkin's picked us up and dropped us back to our holiday park. They couldn't have been more friendly, helpful and efficient. Thank you sooooooooooooooooooooooo much lads and all the best for the future. Rob :-)
Very good garage and car sales. Knowledgeable and friendly staff, have regularly used this garage for servicing, mot etc and feel confident and pleased with their work.
