This is a truly remarkable landmark. It is both imposing and inviting. I couldn't say that I would consider it safe but everything I did with my children 11 and 3 years old did not result in death or significant injury. Well worth the drive.

What can I say about Bishops Castle! It is amazing! And that totally doesn’t even cover half of it. The time and dedication and ingenuity that it took to build this place Hass to be seen to be believed. The Setting is absolutely beautiful and the castle itself is awe inspiring. It is definitely definitely worth the trip to get to it

Very unique structure! Enter at your own risk. I admired the castle mostly from the ground and as far as the 2nd interior level. My husband was brave enough to go out on the metal portion which I was not. We were lucky enough to meet Mr. Bishop himself! Very friendly man and answered all of the questions we asked. This castle has been a life long work of art for him. He stopped working on the castle itself roughly 17yrs ago I believe he said but began working on the fence/entry way into the property at that time. It really is amazing to see and realize how much work it has taken to build such a structure. Definitely worth the drive off the beaten path to see! The drive up to it is very scenic as well! He does not charge a fee but accepts donations instead. I do suggest reading the signs he has posted before entering the property.

This place was awesome. Got to meet Me. Bishop him self. Witch that was awesome. He was moving rock that he had gotten to add to his castle.

Not even sure how we found this place. Would be great to see it more completed one day. A lot of detail in the exterior stone work and interior rooms. The metal "scaffold/walkway" across the top was fun on a windy day. The stained glass is a nice added touch. Lots of people from all over the place were there when we visited.

5 Stars for coolness and creativity, one star for safety. The only reason I didn't give it zero stars for safety is that the owners clearly posting a sign to let you know you're on your own. Coming from an engineering background, I've always wondered what it would be like if someone built something intended for unsupervised use by the public with zero factor of safety, no concern for regulations, inspections or other red tape, and this place is pretty much the answer to that question. The owners don't post any safety guidelines, probably to avoid giving the appearance of liability, so I'm going to, even if these sound super obvious: --Don't let small children wander around unattended at any time --Watch where you put every step--there are many places where floorboards and mesh flooring on walkways has broken through --If it squeaks, groans, or shakes excessively when you put your weight on it, think twice about walking across it --be aware of what the people around you are doing. There are several places on the walkways that may support 1 or 2 people okay, but if 3 or 4 people piled on there it would probably give out. Even if you decide not to risk becoming a Darwin award, this place is still really cool to walk around and look at.

I remember driving by this castle as a kid...stopped once about 20 years ago and it was under construction. Finally able to go explore. Very cool place to stop and see. I’m not one for heights so stayed on the ground while my kids went to the top. Lots to see and little gift shop for momentos. The stairs are steep so it is a enter at your own risk deal. But it’s been standing for at least 30 years that I know if so must be sturdy.

A definite stop if traveling though. How amazing to meet Mr. Bishop and witness the incredible build he created with his own 2 hands. Definitely scary to climb up through, but the view alone is all that’s needed.
