Very interesting insight into former Soviet union ethnic and religious groups. Good informative program to give you a taster and tempt you to look further into this rich history.

Went because of the good and full worthy exhibition about the Pre columbian gold. The Ethnigrafics are well exhibited in perfect conditions and explanations both in Russian and English, a little boring though. The building is marvelous and the park (Mikhailovsky park) behind is peaceful and a good walk to the museum.

One of the richest ethnographic collections I’ve had the pleasure of seeing. Their collection focused on the many cultures that made up the former USSR. It was not life painted on a canvas or photographs, but the actual clothing, shoes, costumes, utensils, raw materials, crafts, and lifestyles of the people. They took you inside their homes and gave you a glimpse of daily life. The museum has permanent and temporary exhibitions - together giving a profound perspective on humanity in our global world.

Interesting, in Russian so hard to understand many exhibits. Not that it should be in English , if I read Russian it would be a wonderful place to appreciate the cukture
