Booked in for an MOT and interim service. Price was a little more than some other places at 160, but the online booking service was convenient and fairly easy to use (some information had to be input several times). It was also one of the few places with slots available at such short notice. Car was required to be dropped off by 8:30am, which was fine. Received a call in the afternoon telling me all my brakes needed completely replacing and was told it would be over 500. The Halfords employee was pleasant throughout, but fairly heavy-handed with the sales technique. After initially agreeing I had second thoughts about it, but when I rang back 10 minutes later it was apparently already too late. I was offered a 10% discount as a 'gesture of good-will' which was appreciated. However, I did have a feeling that I was being slightly mis-lead about the amount of work done in the short time between the calls. The work was completed on the day as promised and the MOT, service, and replacing the brakes took a total of 9 hours (8:30 - 17:30). The Halfords brakes4life deal was also included with the new brakes, which seems alright but nothing special as it only applies to the pads. Overall the service was okay, the staff clearly knew what they were talking about and were nice enough. But it did cost significantly more than expected and the staff do apply a lot of pressure to get the work done then and there. If your vehicle needs work at short notice then Halfords is perfectly fine, the process is straight forward, and they will get the work done in a reasonable amount of time. But due to the higher price compared to other garages and the overly pushy sales technique, I will probably look elsewhere in future.

Car booked in for a new battery to be fitted, paid upfront on line with booking. Arrived on time to be told in future best to go to Halfords store and not the Autocentre. They would be unavailable to fit my battery until someone became available and to leave the keys with them. Where was I suppose to go and wait?

The lads in Runcorn have helped me out a couple of times recently and although they can't do everything, they will always try and get you back on the road. They may not be the cheapest but definitely give a good service.
