The food was good and fresh. The waitress inside that served us was very friendly and helpful too. We had a drink afterwards in the beer garden which was really big & had views over the race course. You can take your dog too if you sit outside.

Had an interesting dinner with family here today! We've been here before and generally good. This evening, had a disappointing experience in both food and the manager (Chris) in how he dealt with some honest positive feedback... We were served salad that was the most sad, wilted looking leaves and tomatoes that you wouldn't even serve your pets... Burger was extremely poor in respect to it being slapped together with little more than the patty and a leaf with no condiments even though described as such on the menu. Chris was not interested and said he'd let the chefs know but all of their food is fresh and gave a few excuses rather than admit there was a lack of quality coming out of the kitchen. Sad to see complacency from the manger and really should be re-trained in customer satisfaction. Won't be going back in a hurry and will stick to The Blue Ball and Grumpy Mole, where they understand a service with a smile and grown up attitude to retaining their customers

Went to have lunch here on Thursday with my Son Brother and Mum. My Son and Mum arrived first,, my Son showed his exemption card for mask but was told it had to have a code on it! They let him in with my Mum though. When I arrived with my Brother they refused him entry even though he had his asthma pump and exemption card! He told the fella on the door, okay not a problem we will go elsewhere, he was not rude to him. Unlike the old lady who was rude to my brother. We all left, but the owner of the pub came out taking photos of my Son’s registration. When asked why, he scurried off. We went across to the Derby Arms where we had no problem at all, they were very accommodating. This is not the first time the owner has been extremely rude and arrogant to people I know. I would strongly advise if you wish to have polite and friendly service, find another place to go! I will never set foot in there again!

Fantastic setting. Great to see dog walkers on the frosty grass & horses walking close to restaurant with the modern stands nearby. We were a party of 8 retirees from one extended family. Our once a year meet up. We were fed and watered & chatted for about 5 hrs - no hurry to throw us out! Food great, service great - cannot fault it
