I usually don't have a bad experience with royal cars but recently i have noticed a lot of unprofessional drivers. I normally take a taxi to work in the mornings and they come in 10 mins, the perfect time to manage around especially before rush hour, I have noticed that paying by card is easier to not get ripped off. This morning i called for a taxi, everything okay but I noticed I didn't have the right change so i had to give a 20 note for a 6.50 ride, i even gave the 50p to round it up, I expect 14 back, no? I got back 6.50 instead. I was in a rush so I didn't notice and he gave it all in little change so i stuffed it in my pocket and went on my way. I only noticed when i reached work and had counted it out. I do realise some drivers miss a pound or two and i let it go as it's not a big deal but never been ripped of this bad! Also, I've also smaller unpleasant journeys. In one instance i even got lectured on waking up late and said I wouldn't have to call a taxi every morning if I woke up earlier, not taking into consideration how my hours work. Some drivers will also be on call during the ride, speakers on loud. Also, another driver that has almost collided with another car . I have remembered him, twice. He always seems to blame the other driver! I don't feel safe at all to use this taxi service at all.
I’ve never had a bad experience with Royal Cabs. They have cars waiting everywhere so your waiting time is minimal. Their cars are nice, and the drivers are friendly. Reasonably priced. Can’t complain at all!
It was a nice surprise to see a woman on the wheel. There should be more variety so that it doesn't come as a surprise anymore
Don't normally leave a comment about a simple 10 minute taxi ride, but I feel I should for others to use when in Oxford. I called 4 other firms at rand before I got through to Royal their service was excellent from my initial call, the booking and the car turning up bang on time. However the main reason for the comment was the cost, just be careful of other firms in Oxford over charging, Royal price was extremely fair, so I would recommend you try them first, as all the ones I called quoted at least 10.00 more
