¡Wow what a fantastic place! We only went in for coffee and cake, because the Gibside Chapel tea room is too expensive and busy, but once inside we spotted poached egg and asparagus on toast. Since we weren't very hungry, the cook split a single serving onto two plates. He took trouble to match our preference for egg (Alison likes it hard, I like it to run over the asparagus), excellent toast, just really enjoyable. Cake was great too - I'd write home about that al well but it would make the review too long
I stopped here during a bike ride and was pleasantly surprised. Friendly service, excellent coffee and a very good selection of scones and cakes etc. Would definitely recommend.
