Good food. But somehow I missed the warmth in the service. Too formal, an issue of many Michelin starred places...

My second time visiting here.there will be the third time for sure.
Amazing experience. Did the four course tasting menu which put me a food coma for the rest of the day.
A spectacular tasting menu, each dish seeming better than the one before, this restaurant fully deserves its Michelin stars. Staff are attentive and friendly, and our two small dogs were made welcome. The wine list is as you might expect daunting, but advice is to hand and we had an excellent Sancerre which went well with the menu. This is not a cheap place to eat, but highly recommended for special occasions.
Sadly, this place did not feel on par with other 2 star michelin restaurants. The service especially, is a little sloppy, forgetting to refill water glasses; getting mixed up between guests drinking sparkling and still water; Bringing the first wine bottle after two dishes have already been eaten; bringing the second bottle of wine too late for the dish it was supposed to accompany. The food was also slightly disappointing. While all dishes were tasty, and some very inventive, not a single one left a strong impression, making the whole meal forgettable. Plus, the use of truffles is a little excessive and feels a little \cheap\. I liked the Russian fusion element to some dishes, but it's a little overplayed. (I could guess what the dessert was going to be without looking at the menu)
Really love it there. Nice staff and good prices for quality food.
We had a seasonal menu including 4 courses. Food was ok, not bad but nothing wow. My expectations were probably too high
To be honest, everything about my meal at Gill was good but not great. Our group had the smaller tasting menu, and I would generally say nothing stuck out as wonderful enough to write about. Some dishes were interesting, but not compared to other Michelin starred restaurants I've been to (multiple). Service was swift but not overly personal. Atmosphere was good but an older setting with nothing hugely remarkable or inspiring. All in all, good meal but I was expecting more - hence the 3 stars.
