The beans are outstanding - interesting varieties and origins, expertly roasted to bring out their best characteristics, fresh/shipped right after roasting (the "Brix Breaker" may be the best cup I've ever brewed - and the novelty factor of the almost comically large Pacamara beans is pretty great, too). On top of that, there is also a nicely curated selection of coffee gear - all good, useful, reasonably-priced stuff (the Baratza Encore I bought from RSR was less expensive than it would have been at Amazon, and I got it faster too!). Finally, the website is an entertaining read, with some really good info (hopefully Brian keeps updating the blog). It's a pleasant surprise to find a specialty coffee roaster of this caliber out here in small-town Iowa!

What a treat to find in Tama! Brian and his family are a delight. We chatted for a while and enjoyed the coffee! Brought home 2 bags and some espresso to CO and will return when we are visiting family in the area. If you love coffee, find his products. You will not be disappointed!

Roasting beans is an art... stop by this shop on the weekends to enjoy an amazing creation of makade-mashkiki-waboo (translated from Ojibwemowin - black-medicine-liquid). My partner ordered a red-eye, our friend ordered a nitro-cold brew with a shot of expresso and I ordered an iced coffee with an expresso. Truly superb. The owner is awesome - friendly and took the time to explain his process of acquiring and roasting coffee beans.
